Affordable Housing

Bridgewell has long been recognized as a leader in providing safe and affordable housing in Lowell and Lynn for individuals with disabilities, the homeless and individuals with a dual diagnosis.

Housing opportunities range from rooming houses to apartment living, and many include a variety of rental subsidy programs.

Bridgewell provides ongoing maintenance and capital improvements to all its properties, including interior and exterior renovations, carpentry, painting and landscaping.

Shelter Plus Care
Bridgewell administers 39 Shelter Plus Care Subsidies. To qualify, a participant must be homeless and disabled. Those accepting the subsidy must agree to case-management services provided by the Lynn PACT and or Bridgewell. Rental units in this program vary from single room occupancy to one bedroom apartments.

Single Room Occupancy (SRO) Mod Rehab Program
The program offers 32 subsidized housing units to homeless individuals. The units are in a rooming house in Lynn. To qualify for this program, participants must be homeless.

Representative Payee Services
Bridgewell payee services help transition homeless individuals to permanent housing and teach individuals money management skills needed to maintain their housing. Staff members provide assistance in locating suitable housing in Lynn or Lowell and are contracted to assist in the management of client finances, paying rent, utilities and other bills.

Mainstream Choice Voucher Program
Bridgewell administers 200 housing vouchers for very-low income individuals who are disabled and their families so that they can afford safe, decent and affordable, privately owned housing.

Participants must meet the income eligibility guidelines and have proof of a disability to qualify for the program.

Pathfinder Apartments
Just opened in Lowell, Pathfinder Apartments is comprised of 12 large efficiency units. These units were funded through a variety of Federal and State programs including HUD/McKinney Vento. Participants must be chronically homeless, have a mental illness and meet the very low income guidelines. Case Management services are offered to assist with integration and maintaining permanent housing.
