After School Program
Bridgewell has partnered with the Lynn Public Schools to provide an After
School Program serving students from the Life Skills Program of Lynn High Schools. The target population is students 16 to 21 years old
with cognitive difficulties. The program provides a safe and entertaining
social environment for students after their regular school day. Activities
combine education and social activities in a relaxed atmosphere.
The program runs school days from 3 to 5 p.m. Activities
may include:
- Exercise groups
- Arts and crafts
- Board games
- Gross motor games and activities
- Homework help and tutoring
- Grooming and hygiene
- Sensory groups
- Discussion groups (current events, sports,
etc.)
- Field trips
- Cooking classes
Prior to joining the program, Bridgewell staff
meets with potential students, their parents and teachers
to discuss the students' unique interests so that the program
can incorporate the appropriate mix of activities.
Each student is transported home by After School Program staff in Bridgewell transportation
vans.
