For fifty years, we have been providing
quality services to more than 2,900 individuals each day in
18 communities north of Boston under the name Greater Lynn
Mental Health and Retardation Association. However, in 2005
we changed our name.
Our staff and the individuals in our programs
wanted to remove stigmatizing language from our name and find
one that better reflected our work and the range of services
we offer.
So, welcome to Bridgewell!
The word "bridge" suggests a strong
structure or system of services supporting people through
the many different challenges that they may face. The word
"well" is not only for good health, but also for
being in good situations.
Our logo represents the "bridge or path" we provide
to individuals in a variety of settings where compassion,
kindness and respect for personal dignity are the key components
to our daily regimen. The two colors in the logo are intended
to depict the cultural diversity of our workforce and the
people we support. In addition, the name reminds us that to
be an organization that truly makes an impact, we need to
continue building bridges into the community, with our funders,
family members, staff and board. It is only through these
partnerships that we'll have the resources - human, financial
and social - to improve the status and quality of life for
the range of people we serve. Bridgewell opens its doors to
people needing assistance, including individuals with developmental
and psychiatric disabilities, the homeless, and children struggling
with emotional and behavioral challenges.
We are committed not only to provide the best
quality care, but to work with each individual to promote
personal growth, toward a satisfying, safe and meaningful
life.
Our mission, simply stated, is to connect people with possibilities. If you
share this vision, we hope you can find a way to work with us (join our
staff, volunteer, donate) so that we achieve this meaningful goal.
